Tribunus is a founder-led software company in San Francisco, founded by Julian Torres in October 2024. We build Tessera Studio — a desktop app for running large language models on your own computer.
Most AI today runs on someone else's servers. Your prompts, your files, your work — uploaded, stored, and processed far away from your computer.
Local AI changes that. When the model runs on your own machine, your data stays with you, there's no account to sign into, and it works even when you're offline.
That's what we build: local AI that uses your computer properly, and helps you get work done — with you, not against you.

A Swift desktop app on top of a C++ fork of llama.cpp — calibrated per-tensor quantization, native speculative decoding, and Apple Neural Engine prefill on M-series Macs. The product site and downloads live on the Tessera subdomain.

Governance is intentionally light. Tribunus has a single core maintainer — Julian Torres — who holds final decision authority on architecture, roadmap, contribution acceptance, and licensing. This model will be revisited as the project matures. See GOVERNANCE.md for the full document.
